Effective date: 12 October 2026

Calm Trait costs you nothing and is paid for by affiliate commission. This page explains exactly how that works, where the links are, and what the arrangement does and does not influence. It is the long version of the box under the heading on the homepage and the line printed beside every affiliate link.

How the money works

Some links on this site lead to a game publisher through an affiliate network. If you follow one of those links and go on to register an account — in the case of the game named in this course, that means registering, confirming your email address and launching the game — the network records that the referral came from calmtrait.online and pays Evropastar s.r.o. a commission for it.

You are never charged anything by us: the commission is paid by the network out of its own arrangement with the publisher, not added to anything you pay. Your price is identical whether you arrive through our link, through a search engine, or by typing the publisher's address yourself.

Where the affiliate links appear

There are four of them on the whole site, and they are always labelled.

  • On the homepage, in the section explaining where Enlisted appears in the course and why.
  • In Step 1, where the game is used as an example of reading a publisher's page.
  • In Step 3, where its sign-up sequence illustrates registration and email confirmation.
  • In Step 5, where the first launch is described.

Every one of them carries a note beside it saying it is a paid affiliate link, opens in a new tab, and points at the destination you can see in your browser's status bar when you hover over it. We do not use redirect pages, shortened addresses or scripts that change where a link goes after you click it. What you see is where you will arrive.

What the commission does not decide

It does not decide what the course says. The five steps were structured before any link was placed, around the decisions a beginner actually has to make, and every step is written to stand up with the links removed. If deleting the affiliate links would leave a step incomplete, the step would be written wrong.

It does not decide which products are mentioned by name in the sense of making the mentioned one look better. The course does not rank games, score them, compare one against another or call anything best. Nothing on this site says the game we link to is superior to any alternative, because we have not tested any of them and have no basis for such a claim.

It does not change what we state as fact. The only things this site says about Enlisted are what the affiliate network that operates the link states: that it is a new game set in the atmosphere of the Second World War, and that its sign-up consists of registration, email confirmation and launching the game. Anything else — requirements, contents, what it sells, what it costs inside — comes from the publisher and belongs on the publisher's own site.

What does decide the content

Three things, in this order. First, whether a beginner has to make the decision at all: if nobody has to decide it, it is not in the course. Second, whether we can source the answer — from the operating system's own documentation, from the Australian body responsible for the subject, or from a vendor's own statement. Third, whether it can be written so that somebody who has never installed a game understands it without being talked down to.

One game is named rather than several because the sign-up pattern it uses — register, confirm, launch — is the pattern Steps 3 and 5 teach. The commercial relationship is a reason that example is here at all, and we would rather say so than pretend the site funds itself out of goodwill. The editorial method is on the About page.

You can finish the course without using any of them

Every step, every checklist and the printable checklist page work exactly the same if you never follow an affiliate link. Nothing is withheld, nothing is revealed by clicking, and no part of the course asks you to register for anything. A reader who finishes all five steps and decides not to install a single game has used this site correctly.

Trademarks

All brand names on Calm Trait, Enlisted among them, are the property of their owners. Except for the paid affiliate links described on our funding page, none of those owners is affiliated with Calm Trait, and none has endorsed or sponsored it.
